Emanuela Del Gado named Provost’s Distinguished Associate Professor

Emanuela Del Gado has been named a 2017 Provost’s Distinguished Associate Professor. The honorific title recognizes Prof. Del Gado for excellence in research and teaching. In the 2+ years she has been at Georgetown, she has built a highly successful research program that investigates the properties of soft matter using statistical mechanics and computational physics. She has established new collaborations in multiple areas of research, many of them with interdisciplinary impact, and some involving teams across the globe. Her work on “green concrete” has widespread practical implications for reducing energy consumption in the production of concrete. Prof. Del Gado is also a talented mentor and teacher, and she has attracted a stellar team of postdoctoral scholars and visitors that has invigorated the soft-matter community at Georgetown.
