Many students, post-docs, and seasoned physicists are interested in using their passion for science in non-research endeavors. One way is to talk or write about research. Whether giving a lab tour, presenting results at a conference, or even having a conversation on an airplane, effectively conveying physics ideas to varied audiences is important. For some, translating science can turn into a career. This alternate job path presents an opportunity for researchers to contribute their knowledge and perhaps create a more scientifically literate population. As traditional media has become digital, science writing has evolved into all-around communication and outreach. I will talk about information sources for the general public and how scientists can contribute to this work. I will also present some recent research highlights from the Joint Quantum Institute in the context of public interest in quantum information.
