Physics department participates in GUMSHOE Discovery! Summit

The physics department participated in the 2023 Discovery! Summit, an event organized by the student group GUMSHOE (Georgetown University Math Science Hands-On Enrichment). GUMSHOE volunteers tutor at local middle and high schools throughout the year. Once a year, they invite their tutees to spend a day on campus engaging in science workshops and interacting with science faculty and students. For the physics workshop, Profs. Chris Cothran and Leanne Doughty transformed the physics teaching lab in Regents into an escape room, in which students completed a series of experiments exploring electric and magnetic phenomena and then used their results to solve a puzzle to escape the lab.
