Georgetown undergraduate students Sophie Taylor and Yuri Chung and REU student Sam Becker were recent co-authors on a paper that appeared in the journal Heliyon entitled “Liquid-core polymer nanocapsules prepared using flash nanoprecipitation”. The research explored the synthesis of liquid-core/polymer-shell nanocapsules using the method of flash nanoprecipitation. They demonstrated the formation of nanocapsules with a core of n-hexadecane and a shell consisting of polystyrene, and showed that the formation followed a droplet model that their group had developed. In addition to the paper, Sophie will be presenting the results at the March meeting of the American Physical Society in Minneapolis.
