Professor Freericks awarded EAGER grant from NSF for quantum computing
Posted in News Story
Prof. Freericks is leading a Georgetown University/University of Michigan collaboration on developing algorithms for simulating quantum chemistry on quantum computers. The grant, from NSF’s theoretical chemistry program, is an Early-Concept grant for Exploratory Research (or EAGER grant), which is a two-year effort in new frontier areas not yet supported by regular NSF programs. Freericks is teamed with Dominika Zgid from the University of Michigan on this $300,000 grant. The team will focus on combining methods from solid state physics and chemistry and applying them to currently available quantum computers.
