Prof. Freericks is part of a team developing a proposal to create an institute in quantum biology with quantum computers centered at the University of Florida. The NSF recently funding this conceptual grant to design a compelling proposal for a Quantum Leap Center, which is a multi-million dollar initiative to fund the most promising and innovative work in applying quantum computation to hard science problems. The one-year grant will fund speakers, visitors, and workshops designed to create the final team that will submit a proposal next year to the NSF. Prof. Freericks will speak at the University of Florida as a distinguished Slater Lecturer on the ideas behind the center in the Fall of 2019.
