Postdoctoral fellow Manuel Weber has won a 2018 APS-IUSSTF Travel Award for travel to India. Dr. Weber will spend a few weeks visiting the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore India to work with Prof. Hulikal Krishnamurthy on developing a new quantum impurity solver for the single-impurity Anderson model. This problem is a critically important one for enabling dynamical mean-field theory calculations of the quantum mechanical effects in materials where the quantum effects are strong. Dr. Weber is a postdoctoral fellow in the Freericks group, where he is working on developing novel methods for solving complex quantum problems that are intended to be used to examine pump/probe experiments.
