Graduate student work published in Physical Review Letters
Posted in News Story
Part of Wen Shen’s graduate dissertation work was recently published in Physical Review Letters, one of the most prestigious Physics journals. The work examined the behavior of charge density wave ordered materials when they have ultrafast intense pulses of laser light shone on them. Recent experiments show a nonequilibrium phase transition where the gap melts. The theory presented in this work explains how such a nonequilibrium phase transition can take place. The work was in collaboration with another Physics graduate student Yizhi Ge, Professors Liu and Freericks, and collaborators from India and Stanford. The article can be found at 10.1103/PhysRevLett.112.176404.
