Prof. Jim Freericks Assists on Brookhaven Superconductor Study

Professor Jim Freericks has provided theoretical framework for a major study on superconductors at the Department of Energy’s Brookhaven National Laboratory. The collaboration, led by experimental scientists at the Center for Emergent Superconductivity at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Brookhaven National Laboratory with help from Stanford’s Linear Accelerator Center and the University of Duisberg-Essen and including theory from Georgetown and North Carolina State, achieved measurement precision faster than one trillionth of one second through a groundbreaking combination of experimental techniques. These experiments are so fast, that light can only travel a few millionths of a meter during the duration of the experiment. The results were published April 27 in the journal of Science Advances.
