Floquet engineering with continuous-wave irradiation.

Graduate student Yijing Liu and Prof. Barbara published a paper in Nature Communication (Link to Paper: Signatures of Floquet electronic steady states in graphene under continuous-wave mid-infrared irradiation). In a recent collaboration with colleagues at New Mexico Tech, the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Caltech, the University of Chile, Florida State University, and the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen, they studied the use of light to control properties of materials. This emergent field named Floquet engineering had been mainly explored using ultrafast laser pulses. The team pushed the investigation of Floquet engineering using continuous-wave laser irradiation on graphene, in the non-equilibrium, steady-state regime.
