Faculty member discusses the physics of Star Wars

Physics faculty member Patrick Johnson participated in the video series “Georgetown Talks Star Wars,” in which professors from around campus apply their scholarly expertise to analyze all things Star Wars. In these videos, Prof. Johnson discusses the physics of lightsabers, the two suns of Tatooine, and the gravity of the Death Star. In an interview with WTOP, Prof. Johnson notes that his interest in science initially came from watching movies and TV shows as a kid and wondering how things work. The Georgetown Star Wars video series was also mentioned on the Today Show.
