Physics major Bridget Johnson (C’17) has been awarded the 2016 Hichwa Family Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship. Bridget will be conducting research in Prof. Ed Van Keuren’s laboratory this summer. Her work will involve the study of the self-assembly of molecules in solution using a laser based method called fluorescence correlation spectroscopy. The aim of this work is to improve our understanding of this assembly as the first stage in the growth of organic nanoparticles being studied in the Van Keuren lab. These nanoparticles are being developed for biomedical and optoelectronic applications.
The Hichwa Family Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship was established through the generous support of Dr. Bryant P. (C’68) and Ms. Diane V. Hichwa.
