Georgetown physics major wins research poster award

Aya Ahmad, a rising junior physics major, was recently named one of the top presenters at the 2026 Physical and Life Sciences (PLS) Summer Student Showcase at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). Aya, who participated in the summer research program in the Atmospheric, Earth, and Energy Division and was mentored by Dr. Aaron Donahue, was recognized for her poster entitled: “Not All Salt Is Created Equal: The Influence of Aerosol Size and Injection Strategy on Marine Cloud Brightening.” The Student Showcase featured presentations from nearly 130 student interns from across PLS’s divisions.

About her summer research experience, Aya said: “This internship has been an incredible opportunity to develop my research skills, explore a topic I’m passionate about, and most of all, to learn from an amazing team whose support made this experience so rewarding.”
