Joseph Noonan, a student in the 2023 REU program, completed a research project with Prof. Freericks on determining a general methodology for calculating wavefunctions algebraically in quantum mechanics. The approach uses an operator form of the Rodrigues formula to determine the wavefunctions and is based on the Schrodinger factorization method. In addition, an undergraduate Maaz ur Rehman Shah from Pakistan and a graduate student Luogen Xu from the department were co-authors on the work.
