Undergraduate Physics Students Attend 13th Naval Academy Science and Engineering Conference

Undergraduate physics students Ethan Bird (C ’28), Alfonso “Rico” Chan (C ’27), Phoebe Eckstein (SFS ’27), Emmet Feeney (C ’27), and Ty Swanson (C’27) attended the 13th annual Naval Academy Science and Engineering Conference (NASEC) “Beyond the Forecast: Exploring Extreme Weather in a Changing Climate.” With distinguished speakers from NOAA, NASA, and NWS, students gained valuable knowledge towards tackling the modern challenges of the technological, economic and health-related impacts of extreme weather. They also explored the historic site where Albert A. Michelson measured the speed of light in 1879. Undergraduate student Rico Chan presented research on metabolic changes in skeletal muscle under microgravity and space radiation at the NASEC 2024 poster session.
