DaVonne Henry and Jonathan Riess named 2024-25 ARCS Scholars

GU ARCS Scholars 2024

Physics students DaVonne Henry and Jonathan Riess have been awarded scholarships from the Metropolitan Washington Chapter of the ARCS Foundation. The students were recognized at a reception held at the National Academy of Sciences on Oct. 17, 2024, where they participated in a poster session and award ceremony.

DaVonne is a Ph.D. student working with Profs. Paola Barbara and Amy Liu. He presented a poster about using graphene quantum dots as a platform for measuring single-molecule magnets. Jonathan is a senior double majoring in physics and mathematics. His poster was about research he conducted as a summer REU student at the University of Notre Dame, where he investigated isospin symmetry breaking using ab initio nuclear manybody methods.

The ARCS (Achievement Rewards for College Scientists) Foundation is a non-profit organization that advances science and technology in the United States by providing financial awards to academically outstanding students studying science, engineering, math, technology, and medical research.
