Coherent control of cold atoms in a double-well optical lattice

Ultra-cold atoms trapped in optical lattices provide a platform for studying quantum systems in a many body context. The precise atomic and optical control we have in these systems can be used for quantum many-body simulation and provides a potential platform for quantum computing. I will describe experiments in a unique double-well optical lattice demonstrating high fidelity sub-lattice spin control of atoms, and I will outline future many-body experiments enabled by such a multi-period lattice.
